ALUMNI BUSINESS CUP & Conference 2023 - See you in 2024!

The Race at Kieler Yacht Club is over - thank you to all participants! Here are the results and the pictures.
We planned the first Alumni Business Cup in Germany already for 2020 - which had then to be cancelled. Now the game is on again, we are organising the Alumni Business Cup & Conference 2023 and we are super happy to welcome all sailors from the MBA Sailing League for fleet racings on J70's and a conference program around the topic of 'Entrepreneurship' with interesting speakers.

The Races
DESIGN

We have partnered with the organisers of the German Segel-Bundesliga (Link to video). This means we are sailing a unique and very competitive form of fleet races on standardised J70 boats - so there is no differentiation about good or bad boats possible for each of the teams.

The Location
KIEL, GERMANY

We have chosen Kiel as the location for the race. Kiel is a former olympic sailing area very close to Hamburg (~1hr from the airport), directly at the Baltic Sea.
We do have the luxury to be welcome in one of the most prestigious yacht clubs, the Kieler Yacht Club.

Alumni Business Cup

The ABCup Regatta is now well into its third decade.
A bit of history ...
It was in 1992, that 8 pioneering crews gathered in Port La Forêt (Brittany). The regatta then moved to La Trinité sur mer where it stayed until 1997.
LBS and Crandfield alumni then took us to the Solent for three regattas on the Sunsail fleet. In 2000, the alumni from Bocconi were mandated to find warmer waters for the ABCup, this was Rimini. Following a gap year in 2001, the ABCup went back to France (La Rochelle, Brest). Bocconi then arranged a splendid regatta in Trieste onboard Solaris 36 (spectacular racing machines). In 2005 and 2006, we sailed around the secluded islands of Les Embiez and Porquerolles on the French Riviera. We tried Caiscais (Portugal) in 2007, cruised/raced in splendid Croatia in 2008 before returning to France (Port Camargue and La Ciotat/Cassis) in 2009 and 2010...

You can find more about the ABCup story here.

Kieler Yacht Club

With the aim already formulated by the founders of the Kieler Yacht-Club in 1887 "to propagate the joy of sailing", the Kieler Yacht-Club stands for a long tradition in regatta sailing at the highest sportive level and in demanding cruising.
Tradition and future of sailing determine all the activities in the club.
Focus areas of Kieler Yacht-Club are the sail training for children, adolescents and adults as well as the organization of high-level racing events like the Kieler Woche, MAIOR, YES and World and European Championships in various classes.
With 1,400 members, the Kieler Yacht-Club is one of the largest and established in 1887 also one of the most historic sailing clubs in Germany.
The members of the Kieler Yacht-Club include multiple World and European Champions as well as Olympic Medalists in different sailing classes.

You can find more details about the Kieler Yacht Club here.

The idea behind this event in Kiel / Germany

There has never been an MBA sailing race and conference in Germany and we want to invite all the friends from the other teams that we are competing with in several races everywhere in Europe.
We tried to make it special, so this race will be in a very competitive team match race format - we can tell you that you will remember this event for a long time.
