The first Alumni Business Cup in Germany - top universities competing within sight of the Elbphilharmonie. Welcome to Hamburg, Germany!

ABout the AB Cup 2020

There are two good reasons why we chose Hamburg:

First of all, we (the Kellogg-WHU team) wanted to give back something for all these amazing events we took part in over the past few years, e.g. Portofino, Capri, Athens, Warwick, Porto, and much more. And as the WHU is based in Germany, we just had to do it in Hamburg where the weather is usually around 21° C. with 3-4bft wind at the end of May.

Second we wanted to find a great location where we can combine the AB Cup motto of Fun, Friendship and Glory. Hamburg is a fun city with its amazing possibilities, small enough to find everybody else again when you get lost, but also a great place to party and network. When it comes to sailing, Hamburg has a long tradition. Many German Olympic sailors are based in Hamburg and started their careers at NRV, the club that will host us. Moreover, they also have access to the J/70s of the German Premier Sailing League, which we will use for great racing on Lake Alster.

We have already organized a lot of interesting things and we will have a great combination of match racing in the J/70s, onshore activities (we have already booked a historic theatre in a villa for Friday night’s performances :-)) and great food and other experiences. Don’t forget to bring your camera!

Event details

The AB Cup 2020 in Hamburg will be a 4-day event starting on Thursday, May 21 at around 5pm. The entry fee for each sailing team will be EUR 2,900 (EUR 725 p.p.).
This amount covers: the boat, a double room in the design hotel and all cocktails, finger food on Thursday plus dinner & drinks on Friday and Saturday.
The non-sailing guest fee will be EUR 400 p.p..

We are organizing the event in a way that you will see a lot of nice places in Hamburg. What’s more, there will also be a schedule for the Sunday if you are interested. We have arranged that everybody will be able to stay in the same design hotel close to the venue. If you are arriving earlier or want to stay longer, we can help you book a room in the same hotel.

Please note that we need to finally book all the rooms relatively quickly as Hamburg with its 1.7m inhabitants has a lot of external visitors.

So the application deadline is January 31st 2020!
